Boo & Buddy
Boo & Buddy

On January 18, 2019 Boo, the “World’s Cutest Dog”, passed away in his sleep.  Boo, the Pomeranian Internet sensation, rose to fame on social media earlier this decade. Kesha tweeted that she had a new boyfriend, linked to Boo’s Facebook page and a star was born.

Boo belonged to Facebook employee, Irene Ahn, who was “outed” in her role by Internet sleuth Mike Isaac, of All Things Digital.
He died a few months shy of what would have been his 13th birthday on March 16th.  Boo was preceded in death in 2017 by his older brother and buddy, Buddy.

Boo racked up a number of impressive statistics during his life,  demonstrating his popularity:

  • 17+ million Likes on Facebook as of March 2016
  • Face of a popular Facebook page
  • Named Virgin America’s Official Pet Liaison in 2012
  • Subject of four photo books (one translated into 10 languages)
  • Model for a Gund stuffed animal

Reports of Boo’s demise first circulated back in 2012, but these later proved to be Internet hoaxes.

Irene Ahn introduced Boo to the world on Facebook with the post, “My name is Boo. I am a dog. Life is good.”  Irene noted her belief that Boo died of a “broken heart” and life hadn’t been as good for him since the death of his beloved Buddy in 2017.

Rest In Peace Boo.  You will be missed.
